Llevar tiempo haciendo algo (perfect continuous)

Llevar tiempo haciendo algo (perfect continuous)

Llevo tres años estudiando inglés, llevo una hora esperando el autobús, vivo aquí desde 2019. Para decir cuánto tiempo llevas haciendo algo, el inglés usa el presente perfecto continuo con for y since. Practica I’ve been learning… for…, since y how long, y representa un diálogo.

Al final sabrás decir cuánto tiempo llevas haciendo algo con for, since y el presente perfecto continuo.

Lo que debes recordar

  • Presente perfecto continuo: have/has + been + verbo en -ing: I’ve been waiting.
  • For + duración: for two hours. Since + momento de inicio: since 2020, since Monday.
  • Pregunta: How long have you been + -ing?
  • Con verbos de estado (know, live, be) se usa el presente perfecto simple: I’ve lived here for ten years.

Preguntas frecuentes

¿Cuándo uso «for» y cuándo «since»?

For va con una duración (for three years). Since va con el momento en que empezó (since 2021).

¿Puedo decir «I’m learning English for six years»?

No. Con for o since se usa el presente perfecto, no el presente simple: I’ve been learning English for six years.
