Modelo: Hi Hannah, It’s great to hear you’re coming to São Paulo! About the hotel, I’d suggest staying near Avenida Paulista, because it’s close to the conference centre and the metro. A room costs around R$400 a night, and the breakfast is excellent. As for transport, don’t hire a car; the traffic is terrible. The metro is quick and safe, and taxis are cheap if you need to go out late. Food is my favourite part. You must try a pastel at the Sunday street market, and if you like Japanese food, visit the Liberdade district. Bring a light jacket, because the evenings can be cool, even in summer. Let me know your dates, and I’ll show you my favourite places after the conference. Can’t wait to see you! Love, Isadora Verifique: três tópicos, tom amigável, 140–190 palavras.
Atividade 17. Writing Part 1: essay
Modelo: Many companies are now testing a four-day working week. In my opinion, this change would help workers in several ways. Firstly, employees could be more productive. A rested person concentrates better, and fewer hours may reduce mistakes. Secondly, workers would have more free time for family, study and health, which improves well-being. A further point is the environment: fewer days at the office would mean less commuting and less pollution. However, some people claim that shorter weeks are impossible in jobs such as hospitals or shops. This is true, but companies can use shifts to cover every day. In conclusion, I believe that shorter working weeks benefit most workers, as long as businesses plan them carefully. Verifique: introdução, três ideias, contra-argumento, conclusão, 140–190 palavras.
Atividade 18. Speaking Part 2: comparar fotos
Modelo: Both photos show people working, but in very different places. In the first photo, a man is working alone in a quiet café, whereas in the second one, six people are working together in an open-plan office. The man in the café may prefer silence to concentrate, while the people in the office probably enjoy sharing ideas. In my opinion, the café is better for tasks that need focus, but the office is more suitable for team projects. Personally, I would choose the café for writing and the office for meetings. Verifique: comparação (whereas/while), hipótese (may, probably), resposta à pergunta.
Atividade 19. Speaking Part 3: tarefa em conjunto
Modelo: Davi: What do you think about free museums? Mei: I’m not sure; I think discounts would work better. Davi: Why? Mei: Because hotels are expensive in winter. Davi: That’s true, but a festival could attract more people. Mei: Good point. Shall we choose the festival, then? Davi: Yes, let’s combine it with a night market. Mei: Great, we’re agreed. Verifique: opinar, discordar, concordar e decidir.
Atividade 20. Mini-simulado de Use of English
