¿Cómo se usa there is y there are?
There is a poster on the wall (un póster) pero There are two posters on the wall (dos). Con incontables se usa is: There is some water in the bottle.
| Forma | Singular | Plural |
|---|---|---|
| Afirmativa | There is a lamp. | There are two lamps. |
| Negativa | There isn’t a lamp. | There aren’t any lamps. |
| Pregunta | Is there a lamp? | Are there any lamps? |
| Respuesta | Yes, there is. / No, there isn’t. | Yes, there are. / No, there aren’t. |
Some y any
En afirmativas se usa some: There are some books. En negativas y preguntas se usa any: There aren’t any books. Are there any books?
¿Qué preposiciones uso para situar objetos?
| Preposición | Significado | Ejemplo |
|---|---|---|
| in | dentro de | in the bag |
| on | sobre | on the desk |
| under | debajo de | under the bed |
| next to | al lado de | next to the door |
| between | entre dos cosas | between the bed and the desk |
| opposite | enfrente de | opposite the bank |
Mi habitación
In my room there is a bed next to the window. There are two posters on the wall. Under the bed there are some boxes.
Para el barrio usa los mismos modelos: There is a library between the bakery and the bank. There is a park opposite the library.
No digas *Has a table in the room*: «hay» se traduce como there is, no como has. Tampoco *It is a lamp on the desk*: el sujeto es there. Y no confundas there are con they are: la primera dice que existen y la segunda identifica algo.
Habitaciones compartidas
