| padaria | bakery |
| ponto de ônibus | bus stop |

| mercado | market |
Erros típicos do brasileiro
Em português dizemos “tem uma padaria perto”, e muita gente escreve Has a bakery near here. O certo é There is a bakery near here. Cuidado também com a pronúncia: this tem /ɪ/ curto, e these tem /iː/ longo.
Nota cultural
Bairro se escreve neighborhood nos Estados Unidos e neighbourhood no Reino Unido. As duas formas são corretas.
A dica do Léo
Aponte com o dedo! Se o objeto está perto da mão, é this ou these. Se você precisa esticar o braço, é that ou those.
O essencial de there is e there are
- this e that são singulares; these e those são plurais.
- There is + singular ou incontável; there are + plural.
- Negativa: there isn’t / there aren’t; pergunta: Is there…? / Are there…?.
