Respuesta rápida: Will es el auxiliar del futuro en inglés: sujeto + will + verbo en forma base. Lo usas para decisiones tomadas en el momento (I’ll open the window), promesas (I won’t tell anyone) y predicciones personales (I think it will be sunny). Su negativa es won’t. En nivel A2 sirve para ofrecerte y prometer.

¿Cómo se forma el futuro con will?
Estructura
Will no cambia para ninguna persona: no existe wills. Tras will el verbo va siempre en forma base, sin to: She will call, nunca She will to call.
| Forma | Ejemplo | Significado |
|---|---|---|
| Afirmativa | I’ll help you. | Te ayudaré. |
| Negativa | He won’t come. | No vendrá. |
| Pregunta | Will you wait for me? | ¿Me esperarás? |
| Respuesta corta | Yes, I will. / No, I won’t. | Sí. / No. |
¿Cuándo uso will y no be going to?
Ejemplos
- Decisión en el momento: The phone is ringing. I’ll answer it. — Suena el teléfono. Lo cojo yo.
- Promesa: I won’t be late, Mum. — No llegaré tarde, mamá.
- Predicción: I think Spain will win. — Creo que España ganará.
Si el plan ya estaba pensado, usa be going to.
Con I think + will expresas lo que crees: I think it will be cold. En negativa, en inglés se niega el verbo de opinión: I don’t think it will rain (y no I think it won’t rain). Otras marcas útiles son probably (She will probably win), maybe y perhaps.
Para ofrecerte, es muy común empezar con Shall I…? o con I’ll…. Si alguien te pide un favor, responde con Sure, I will o Sorry, I won’t be able to. Además, will se combina con marcas de tiempo como tomorrow, next year o in the future.
Otro fallo es traducir «Si llueve, me quedaré» con If it will rain; tras if va el presente simple. Y cuidado con will y want: I want that you come no existe.
Nota cultural
Los británicos suelen ofrecerse con I’ll get it o I’ll do it en lugar de preguntar mucho. En un pub o en casa, decir I’ll put the kettle on («pondré el hervidor») es una forma amable de ofrecer té.
El consejo de Leo
Piensa en un interruptor: cuando decides al instante, enciende will; si el plan ya estaba en tu agenda, usa be going to.

Prometer, decidir y predecir con will: preguntas frecuentes
Por ejemplo: I’ll carry your bag, I will call you tonight, I think it will be easy.
¿Will cambia con he, she o it?
No. Will es igual para todas las personas: I will, you will, he will, she will, it will, we will, they will.
La afirmativa corta es ‘ll: I’ll, you’ll, he’ll, she’ll, we’ll, they’ll. No se escribe willn’t.
¿Se dice I think it won’t rain o I don’t think it will rain?
Lo más natural es I don’t think it will rain.
¿Qué diferencia hay entre will y be going to?
Will expresa decisiones espontáneas, promesas y opiniones. Be going to expresa planes ya decididos y predicciones con evidencia visible.
