Dear Sam,
I wish you were here! The weather is awful and I’d rather be at home. If only we had booked the hotel by the sea, as you suggested. Instead, we’re in the mountains and it hasn’t stopped snowing. Mum wishes she hadn’t forgotten her boots, and Dad wishes the guide would stop telling the same jokes. I’d rather you didn’t mention this to Gran: she’ll worry.
