Exercice 1 : Lexique (4 points)

Compléter chaque phrase avec le mot de la liste qui convient : censorship, cartoonist, propaganda, mural, satire, protest, exhibition, symbol.

Exercice 2 : Compréhension d’un document (5 points)

In the 1960s, a photographer took a picture of a young woman placing a flower in the barrel of a soldier’s rifle during a peace march. The image was published in newspapers around the world and soon became a symbol of non-violent resistance. The photographer later explained that he had not planned the scene: he simply pressed the button at the right moment. Critics argue that a powerful photograph can influence public opinion more than a long speech, because it speaks directly to emotions.

Répondre en anglais, par une phrase complète, à chaque question.

1. What did the young woman do?

2. Where was the picture published?

3. What did it become?

4. Had the photographer prepared the scene?

5. Why can a photograph influence opinion, according to critics?

Exercice 3 : Analyse d’une caricature (3 points)

Imaginer une caricature montrant un homme politique qui promet un grand pont mais ne construit qu’une planche, puis répondre en une phrase à chaque question : 1. Who or what is represented? 2. What is exaggerated? 3. What message does the cartoonist send?

Exercice 4 : Traduction (3 points)

Traduire en anglais.

1. Cette photographie a changé l’opinion de millions de personnes.

2. Le caricaturiste a été menacé à cause de ses dessins.

3. L’art peut résister au pouvoir sans employer la violence.

Exercice 5 : Essai court (5 points)

Rédiger environ 100 mots pour répondre à la question suivante : Can art change society?

Prendre position, donner deux arguments et un exemple.
