- a wind turbine : f
- an oil field : h
- the grid : a
- tidal power : g
- to decommission : d
- crude oil : b
- to harness : e
- 1970
- 1988
- 1999
- 2016
- 2017
- 2045
- Renewable energy is : energy est indénombrable au sens général.
- Scottish : l’adjectif courant.
- decommissioned : démanteler.
- False : Aberdeen was a quiet fishing and granite town.
- True : house prices soared.
- False : platforms 150 miles offshore.
- False : Several fields are running dry (certains seulement).
- False : il soude toujours, now I weld turbine foundations ; seul le secteur a changé.
- True : using the skills they learnt on the rigs.
- The Brent field was discovered (by engineers) in 1971.
- Piper Alpha was destroyed by an explosion in 1988.
- The first floating wind farm was built off Peterhead.
- A new oil field has been approved (by the government).
- Hundreds of platforms will be decommissioned.
- Some wind turbines on the islands are owned by communities.
- Miners used to work in Fife, but they no longer do.
- Aberdeen used to be a fishing town; now it is an energy city.
- Highland glens used to have no electricity; now they have it. (ou didn’t use to have)
- Oil workers used to weld pipelines; now some weld turbines.
- The UK used to import little gas; now it imports a lot.
- It is a bar chart.
- It shows the share of renewable electricity in Scotland’s consumption in 2000, 2010 and 2022.
- It was about 12% in 2000.
- The share rose sharply / increased dramatically between 2000 and 2022.
- Scotland produces more renewable electricity than it consumes, so it exports the surplus to England.
- Wind power, especially onshore and offshore wind farms, probably explains most of the rise.
- Oil was discovered in the North Sea in 1970.
- Aberdeen became the oil capital of Europe.
- Floating wind turbines can be installed in deep water.
- Oil output has been falling since the late 1990s.
- Unions are calling for a just transition for workers.
- Scotland wants to reach net zero by 2045.
- Scotland has many wind turbines which produce electricity.
- Oil was discovered in the North Sea in 1970. (date ponctuelle + prétérit : in, et non since)
- Renewable energy is becoming cheaper. (ou Renewable energies are)
- Offshore wind has been growing fast for ten years.
- The Piper Alpha disaster happened in 1988. (date passée : prétérit)
- Many workers have been retrained for the wind industry.

Exemple de réponse :
Scotland used to be the oil capital of Europe: North Sea oil was discovered in 1970 and Aberdeen boomed for decades. Today, the country is shifting from oil to wind. On the one hand, the results are impressive. Scotland built the world’s first floating wind farm, and renewable output has been growing so fast that it now covers roughly all the country’s electricity needs. Tidal and hydro power add to this mix. On the other hand, the transition is far from complete. Thousands of jobs still depend on oil and gas, and the government keeps debating new fields. Many wind farms are also owned by foreign companies, so local people do not always benefit. In my opinion, Scotland is a promising model, but only if the transition remains just for workers and communities.
