Ces exercices voix passive font travailler le passif à tous les temps, puis les verbes causatifs et les structures résultatives. Avancez dans l’ordre : les premiers exercices posent les formes, les derniers demandent de les utiliser dans un texte et dans vos propres phrases.

Exercice 1 : mettre au passif

Mettez ces phrases au passif en gardant le même temps. N’exprimez l’agent que s’il est utile.

  1. Someone cleans the classrooms every evening.
  2. They are building a new bridge.
  3. Shakespeare wrote Hamlet around 1600.
  4. The police were questioning the suspect when I arrived.
  5. Someone has stolen my bike.
  6. They had already sold all the tickets.
  7. The council will close the library.
  8. You must wear a helmet.
Exercice 2 : reconnaître le temps

Donnez le temps de chaque verbe au passif.

  1. The results will be published on Friday.
  2. The road is being repaired.
  3. Thousands of letters have been sent.
  4. The castle was built in 1250.
  5. The patient was being examined.
  6. The decision had been taken before the meeting.
Exercice 3 : le passif personnel

Réécrivez en commençant par le mot entre crochets.

  1. They gave Tom a prize. [Tom]
  2. Someone showed us the way. [We]
  3. People say that the house is haunted. [The house]
  4. People believe that the thief left the country. [The thief]
  5. They offered her a scholarship. [She]
Exercice 4 : make, let, have ou get ?

Complétez avec make, let, have ou get à la forme correcte.

  1. The film was so sad that it ___ me cry.
  2. My parents never ___ me stay out after midnight.
  3. I finally ___ my brother to lend me his laptop.
  4. The teacher ___ us rewrite the essay because it was too short.
  5. The manager will ___ his assistant send you the documents.
  6. Please ___ me know when you arrive.
Exercice 5 : have something done

Réécrivez avec have + objet + participe passé, en gardant le temps.

  1. A hairdresser cut my hair yesterday. [I]
  2. A mechanic is repairing our car. [We]
  3. A courier will deliver the parcel to her. [She]
  4. A photographer took our wedding photos. [We]
  5. Someone stole his wallet on the bus. [He]

Exercice 6 : associer action et résultat

Associez chaque début (1 à 6) au mot qui exprime le résultat (a à f).

Exercice 7 : traduire en anglais

Traduisez en anglais.

  1. Elle a fermé la porte en la claquant.
  2. Il a ouvert la porte d’un coup de pied.
  3. Ce film m’a fait rire.
  4. Je vais faire réparer mon téléphone.
  5. On a demandé aux élèves de se taire.
  6. Il s’est frayé un chemin à travers la foule.
Exercice 8 : corriger les erreurs

Chaque phrase contient une erreur. Corrigez-la.

Exercice 9 : compréhension, une statue déboulonnée

Lisez cet article puis répondez.

MILLTOWN — A bronze statue of a nineteenth-century factory owner was taken down on Saturday. The statue, which had been erected in 1895, had been criticised for years because the man had made children work twelve hours a day in his mills. After a long debate, the council had it removed by a specialist company. Crowds watched as it was lifted onto a lorry. Some people cheered; others said history was being erased. The statue will be cleaned and displayed in the town museum, where visitors will be invited to discuss its history. A new monument, designed by local students, is expected to be unveiled next year.

  1. When was the statue erected?

Exercice 10 : du passif à l’actif

Mettez ces phrases à la voix active.

  1. The window was broken by the children.
  2. The song is being played by the orchestra.
  3. The letter has been signed by the president.
  4. The suspect was seen by two witnesses.
  5. The prize will be awarded by the mayor.
Exercice 11 : à vous d’écrire

Écrivez une phrase pour chaque consigne.

  1. Something that made you laugh recently (make).
  2. Something your parents let you do, or don’t let you do (let).
  3. A service you have done regularly by a professional (have sth done).
  4. A change in your town or school, at the present perfect passive.
  5. An angry person leaving a room, with a resultative structure.
