Le corrigé be + -ing, série par série

Correction de l’exercice 1 : Identifier la forme
  1. Futur antérieur (will have been building).
  2. Past perfect (had been crying).
  3. Futur (will be lying).
  4. Present perfect (have been queuing).
  5. Modal + présent (must be joking).
  6. Modal + passé (could have been sleeping).
  7. Passif au présent (is being repaired).
Correction de l’exercice 2 : Le futur en be + -ing
  1. ‘ll be having : action en cours à huit heures.
  2. ‘ll be sitting : this time next week appelle will be + -ing.
  3. Will you be using : question polie sur un projet.
  4. will be celebrating.
  5. won’t be waiting.
  6. will be travelling (travelling avec deux l en anglais britannique).
Correction de l’exercice 3 : Present perfect simple ou en be + -ing
  1. have been reading : on insiste sur l’activité (all afternoon).
  2. have read : on compte un résultat (three novels).
  3. Have you been crying : interprétation d’une trace.
  4. has been writing : activité non terminée.
  5. have known : know est un verbe d’état.
  6. have you visited : nombre de fois, donc bilan.
  7. has been raining : durée et trace visible.
Correction de l’exercice 4 : Le past perfect en be + -ing
  1. had been waiting.
  2. had been decorating : la peinture sur ses mains est une trace.
  3. had been running.
  4. had been arguing.
  5. hadn’t been sleeping.
  6. had you been living.
Correction de l’exercice 5 : Le futur antérieur en be + -ing
  1. will have been studying.
  2. will have been working.
  3. will have been flying : by the time + présent, jamais will dans la subordonnée.
  4. will have been playing.
  5. will have been searching.
Correction de l’exercice 6 : Modal + be + -ing ou modal + have been + -ing
  1. must be knocking : on entend le bruit maintenant.
  2. might have been driving : at the time situe l’activité dans le passé.
  3. shouldn’t be using : reproche sur une action en cours (now).
  4. must have been raining : déduction sur la nuit passée.
  5. can’t be telling : on parle de ce qu’ils racontent en ce moment.
  6. could have been waiting : situation passée imaginaire, liée à if you hadn’t called.
Correction de l’exercice 7 : Compréhension d’un texte
  1. They had been waiting since six in the morning.
  2. She has been standing there for three hours.
  3. They were working on the line near Crewe.
  4. He supposes they must have been fixing the signals all night.
  5. She will have been travelling for nearly ten hours.
  6. She will be sitting in a lecture hall in Edinburgh.
Correction de l’exercice 8 : Les valeurs aspectuelles
  1. a) agacement : always + be + -ing.
  2. b) situation temporaire : this term.
  3. c) futur naturel ou poli : on s’informe d’un projet sans insister.
  4. d) trace d’une activité récente : l’odeur prouve l’activité.
  5. e) comportement passager : be being + adjectif.
  6. f) politesse par atténuation : le prétérit en be + -ing adoucit la demande.
Correction de l’exercice 9 : Traduction du français vers l’anglais
  1. I’ve been waiting for two hours.
  2. She had been working there for six months when she resigned.
  3. This time tomorrow, we’ll be voting.
  4. He must have been running: he’s out of breath.
  5. The bridge is being rebuilt.
  6. By September, I’ll have been learning Chinese for a year.
Correction de l’exercice 10 : Correction d’erreurs
  1. I know the answer. Know est un verbe d’état.
  2. She has written four essays this week. Un nombre précis appelle le bilan.
  3. We have been waiting since nine o’clock. Since impose le present perfect.
  4. By next year he will have been working here for ten years. By + durée jusqu’à un repère futur.
  5. They had known each other for years. Verbe d’état, et participe passé known.
  6. The house is being painted at the moment. Passif en cours : is being + participe passé.

Exemple de réponse modèle :

  1. We have been sitting on this delayed train for five hours now.
  2. By the time the driver made an announcement, we had been waiting for ninety minutes.
  3. At eight tonight, my parents will still be waiting for me at the station.
  4. By the time we arrive, we will have been travelling for almost a whole day.
  5. The engineers must have been working on the tracks all night.

Comment progresser après ce corrigé

Repérez le type d’erreur que vous faites le plus souvent : oubli de been, confusion entre bilan et activité, ou verbe d’état mis en -ing. Relisez ensuite la section correspondante du cours, puis réécrivez chaque phrase fausse à trois temps différents (présent, passé, futur) pour automatiser la règle : seul be change, le verbe en -ing reste identique.
