Exemple de réponse :
The United Kingdom is not one nation but a union of four, held together by history, a shared currency and a common parliament. In 2016, this union was put under strain: while England and Wales voted to leave the EU, Scotland and Northern Ireland voted to remain. In Scotland, where 62 per cent backed Remain, many people feel they were taken out of Europe against their will, and the SNP has called for a second independence referendum. However, the Supreme Court ruled in 2022 that such a vote requires Westminster’s approval, and support for independence remains close to fifty per cent. In Northern Ireland, the need to keep an open border with the Republic created a customs border in the Irish Sea, which unionists see as a threat to their British identity. To conclude, Brexit has not broken the United Kingdom, but it has made its unity less obvious than ever before.
