Voici le corrigé comparatifs et intensité, exercice par exercice. Les erreurs les plus fréquentes concernent very devant un comparatif, la place de enough et le mot ever : vérifie-les en priorité.

Correction de l’exercice 1 : rappel des formes
  1. tall : taller – the tallest
  2. expensive : more expensive – the most expensive
  3. good : better – the best
  4. bad : worse – the worst
  5. happy : happier – the happiest (y devient i)
  6. big : bigger – the biggest (consonne doublée)
  7. interesting : more interesting – the most interesting
  8. far : further – the furthest (on accepte aussi farther – the farthest)
Correction de l’exercice 2 : renforcer un comparatif
  1. much better (very est impossible devant un comparatif)
  2. far more expensive
  3. a bit colder
  4. even taller (encore plus grand)
  5. a lot easier
  6. slightly faster
Correction de l’exercice 3 : le superlatif renforcé
  1. It’s the best film I have ever seen.
  2. Usain Bolt is the fastest runner of all time.
  3. The Nile is one of the longest rivers in the world.
  4. That was the worst day of my life.
  5. Simone Biles is the most famous gymnast of her generation.
  6. This is the highest score ever!
  7. Of all my friends, Jake is the funniest.
Correction de l’exercice 4 : lire un tableau de résultats
  1. Kim was the fastest runner of the race.
  2. Lopez was slightly slower than Kim (deux centièmes seulement).
  3. Smith was far slower than Okafor (35 centièmes, c’est énorme sur 100 m).
  4. Okafor was much faster than Smith.
  5. Smith was the slowest runner of the final.
  6. Lopez wasn’t as fast as Kim.
Correction de l’exercice 5 : too ou enough ?
  1. old enough (après l’adjectif)
  2. too hot
  3. too heavy
  4. good enough
  5. enough time (devant le nom)
  6. too short
Correction de l’exercice 6 : doser l’intensité
  1. extremely exciting (tout le monde criait : intensité maximale)
  2. I almost missed the bus (j’ai failli le rater)
  3. quite good (plutôt bien, mais pas génial)
  4. It’s nearly midnight
  5. so tired (so + adjectif seul)
  6. such a good game (such + groupe nominal)
Correction de l’exercice 7 : comparer avec as… as
  1. Tom is as tall as Ben.
  2. My bike isn’t as expensive as yours.
  3. Golf isn’t as dangerous as rugby.
  4. Lyon isn’t as big as Paris.
  5. Anna runs as fast as Lucy.
  6. The last one wasn’t as easy as this one.
Correction de l’exercice 8 : de plus en plus, plus… plus
  1. longer and longer
  2. more and more difficult (adjectif long : more and more)
  3. The more you practise, the better you play.
  4. The earlier we leave, the sooner we’ll arrive.
  5. colder and colder
  6. The older he gets, the wiser he becomes.

  1. This book is much better than the film. (ou simplement better)
  2. She is the tallest girl in the class.
  3. He is much taller than me.
  4. It’s the best film I have ever seen.
  5. He isn’t old enough to vote.
  6. Football is more popular than rugby in France.
  7. It’s the most beautiful city in the world.
Correction de l’exercice 10 : traduire en anglais
  1. This game is much more interesting than the other one. (ou far / a lot more interesting)
  2. It’s the best match I have ever seen.
  3. He is a bit taller than his father. (ou slightly taller)
  4. She isn’t fast enough.
  5. It’s getting hotter and hotter.
  6. My brother is almost as tall as me. (ou as I am)
Correction de l’exercice 11 : commenter un podium

Exemple de réponse modèle :

  1. Mia jumped slightly further than Chen. (5 cm d’écart)
  2. Chen jumped much further than Laura. (40 cm d’écart)
  3. It was Mia’s best jump ever. (ou the longest jump of her career)
  4. Laura’s jump wasn’t as long as Chen’s.
  5. The final was extremely exciting! (ou It was such an exciting final!)

Comment progresser après ce corrigé

Prends un classement réel qui t’intéresse (top 5 de tes films, résultats sportifs, prix de jeux vidéo) et écris cinq phrases qui comparent les éléments avec un mot de nuance différent à chaque fois : much, slightly, even, the best ever, not as… as. Relis-les en vérifiant les trois pièges : pas de very devant un comparatif, enough après l’adjectif, ever et non never après un superlatif.
