Exercice 1 : Choisir le modal (4 points)Entourer la forme correcte dans chaque phrase.
- He’s been running for two hours: he (must / can’t) be tired.
- She has just failed her test: she (might / can’t) be happy.
- The sky is grey: it (may / can’t) rain later.
- That is Tom’s bag: he (must / might) be here.
- I don’t know. It (could / must) be a cat or a fox.
- She is only five: she (must / can’t) be a teacher.
Compléter chaque phrase avec must, can’t ou might, selon le sens.
- The lights are on. They ____ be at home.
- He lives in Paris, so he ____ be in Rome today.
- I’m not sure, but she ____ come to the party.
- You have studied all night: you ____ be exhausted.
- It ____ be true. It sounds incredible.
- Nobody answers. They ____ be out.
Observer la description, puis répondre par une phrase avec may, might, must ou can’t.
A man is standing in the fog at a bus stop. He is wearing a thin coat and no gloves. He is carrying a heavy bag and a map. He is looking at his watch again and again.
- Is the man a teacher?
- Is the man cold?
- Is he going to a party?
- Is he from another country?
- Is he happy?
Réécrire chaque phrase avec le modal entre parenthèses, en gardant le sens.
- Perhaps he is late. (might)
- I am sure she is a doctor. (must)
- It is impossible that he knows the answer. (can’t)
- Perhaps it will snow. (may)
- I am sure they are tired. (must)
Traduire en anglais.
- Il doit être fatigué.
- Elle ne peut pas être la sœur de Paul.
- Il pourrait pleuvoir demain.
- Ce sac doit être à Anna.
Écrire trois phrases pour faire des hypothèses sur une personne qui sort d’un magasin avec un grand sac.
- Hypothèse 1 : très probable
- Hypothèse 2 : possible
- Hypothèse 3 : impossible
