Will est toujours suivi de la base verbale, sans to et sans -s.

Dans la réponse courte positive, will n’est jamais contracté : Yes, I will.

  1. P : on imagine l’avenir.
  2. D : la décision est prise en réaction au froid.
  3. P : I think introduit une prédiction.
  4. D : on décide en entendant le téléphone.
  5. P : prédiction sur l’avenir de quelqu’un.
  6. D : proposition faite sur le moment.

Avec ✗, la négation porte sur think, et will reste à la forme affirmative.

Correction de l’exercice 8 : Chasse aux erreurs
  1. Tomorrow I will go to the beach. (pas de to après will)
  2. She will be happy. (will ne prend jamais de -s)
  3. It will not rain. (base verbale après will not)
  4. Will you help me? (base verbale, pas de -ing)
  5. They won’t come. (la négation de will est won’t)
  6. I will be there tomorrow. (pas de in devant tomorrow)

Exemple de réponse modèle :

  1. In 2050, students will study at home with virtual teachers.
  2. Homes will have solar panels and talking fridges.
  3. I don’t think people will drive petrol cars; they will use electric bikes.
  4. There will be more vegetarian food, and robots will cook our meals.
  5. People will go on holiday to the Moon.
  6. I think I will be a vet and I will live in Canada.

Comment progresser après ce corrigé

Si tu as mis to ou -s après will, recopie trois fois la formule « sujet + will + base verbale » et applique-la à cinq verbes différents. Si tu confonds prédiction et décision immédiate, entraîne-toi avec de petites situations de la vie courante : quelqu’un dit qu’il a froid, faim ou soif, et tu réagis avec I’ll… Enfin, amuse-toi à faire la météo de la semaine prochaine en anglais : It will be sunny on Monday, it won’t rain on Tuesday…
