Exercices formation des mots : préfixes, suffixes et composés

Exercice 1 : Le préfixe négatif

Donne le contraire de chaque mot avec un-, in-, im-, il-, ir-, dis- ou non-.

Exercice 2 : Les préfixes de sens

Complète avec mis-, over-, under-, re-, pre- ou co-.

  3. Don’t ___cook the pasta, or it will be soggy.
  4. Nurses are often ___paid for the work they do.
  5. You must ___heat the oven to 200°C.

Exercice 3 : Former le nom

Forme le nom abstrait correspondant avec -ness, -ment, -ity ou -tion. Attention à l’orthographe.

Exercice 4 : -ful ou -less ?

Complète avec -ful ou -less selon le sens.

Complète chaque ligne du tableau en écrivant les mots manquants.

Exercice 6 : Un article à compléter

Lis l’article et forme, à partir du mot en majuscules, le mot qui convient dans chaque blanc.

Last year, Maya Patel, a seventeen-year-old student from Leicester, had an (1) ___ (AMAZE) idea. She noticed that many elderly neighbours felt (2) ___ (HELP) when their phones stopped working. With the (3) ___ (ENCOURAGE) of her teachers, she set up a free repair club in the local library. Exercice 7 : Les noms composés

Associe chaque mot de la liste A à un mot de la liste B pour former un nom composé courant, puis écris-le correctement (en un ou deux mots). Liste B : ache, bag, coat, glasses, jam, print, shelf, stop.

Exercice 8 : Les adjectifs composés

Réécris chaque groupe avec un adjectif composé placé devant le nom.

  6. a shirt that was made by hand
  7. a building with twenty storeys
Exercice 9 : Correction d’erreurs

Chaque phrase contient une erreur de formation ou d’orthographe. Corrige-la.

  1. It’s unpossible to finish this today.
  2. Your advice was really usefull.
  3. He is always very carefull with money.
  4. Their hapiness was obvious to everyone.
  5. We need two new teethbrushes.
  6. He’s a seven-years-old boy.
  7. The goverment announced new measures.
  8. That was a very unpolite remark.
Exercice 10 : Traduction

Traduis en anglais en utilisant un préfixe, un suffixe ou un mot composé.

  1. Cette décision est irresponsable.
  2. Il a mal compris la question.
  3. Le gâteau était trop cuit.
  4. Sa gentillesse m’a beaucoup touché.
  5. J’ai acheté un sac de couchage et une brosse à dents.
  6. C’est une fille de quinze ans très sûre d’elle.
Exercice 11 : Le slogan publicitaire

Tu présentes une gourde intelligente qui rappelle de boire. Écris cinq phrases, chacune contenant le type de mot demandé.

  1. un mot avec un préfixe négatif
  2. un mot avec over- ou under-
  3. un adjectif en -less
  4. un nom en -ness ou -ment
  5. un adjectif composé
