In the last decade, the empowerment of young voters has become a central concern for democracies. Online platforms have enabled thousands of teenagers to organise themselves, to share information with one another and to challenge decisions they consider unjust. Their activism has raised awareness of climate issues. Yet this digital mobilisation has a darker side: misinformation spreads faster than corrections, and some publishers now hire sensitivity readers to sanitise novels before publication. Critics call it censorship; supporters see it as a way of making literature more inclusive. Whatever one’s opinion, the debate shows that words themselves are never neutral.
