Avant chaque réponse, demandez-vous si le regret porte sur le passé, le présent ou le comportement de quelqu’un.
Exercice 1 : Passé, présent ou comportement ?Indiquez si chaque phrase porte sur le passé (P), le présent (PR) ou un comportement agaçant (C).
- I wish I had brought my camera.
- I wish my brother would tidy his room.
- I wish I were on holiday.
- If only we hadn’t argued.
- I wish it would stop raining.
- If only I knew the answer.
Choisissez la bonne forme.
- I wish I (had studied / studied) harder last year.
- She wishes she (has / had) a bigger flat.
- If only I (didn’t say / hadn’t said) those words yesterday!
- I wish you (would / will) listen to me for once.
- He wishes he (could / can) play the guitar.
- I wish I (was / were) taller. (registre soutenu)
Mettez le verbe entre parenthèses au temps qui convient.
- I wish I (not / eat) ___ so much at dinner.
- We wish we (live) ___ closer to our grandparents.
- If only you (tell) ___ me before!
- My mother wishes I (be) ___ more organised.
- They wish they (not / sell) ___ their old car.
- I wish my neighbours (turn down) ___ their music.
Réécrivez avec I wish.
- I didn’t go to the concert.
- I don’t have enough time.
- I lost my temper.
- I can’t drive.
- I didn’t say goodbye to my friend.
- I am not good at maths.
Réagissez avec If only, à la manière d’une exclamation.
- We missed the last train.
- He didn’t wear his seatbelt.
- I forgot to save my work.
- She isn’t here with us.
- They didn’t listen to the warnings.
Reformulez chaque regret avec la structure indiquée.
- I wish I had apologised. → I should…
- You should have called me. → I wish you…
- I regret not learning to swim. → I wish…
- We shouldn’t have trusted him. → If only…
- It’s a pity I didn’t take the job. → I regret…
Chaque phrase contient une erreur. Réécrivez-la correctement.
- I wish I would have known earlier.
- I wish I would be richer.
- If only she has stayed!
- I regret to not have called you.
- I wish you pass your exams next week.
- He wishes he didn’t say that yesterday.
Traduisez en anglais.
- Je regrette de ne pas avoir envoyé cette lettre.

Traduisez en français.
