Ces exercices discours indirect avancent pas à pas : choisir entre say et tell, adapter les pronoms, faire reculer les temps, puis rapporter des questions, des ordres et un vrai dialogue. Garde le tableau de concordance du cours à portée de main.

Exercice 1 : say ou tell ?

Complète avec say, said, tell ou told.

  1. She ___ me that she was tired.
  2. He ___ that he liked pizza.
  3. Can you ___ me the time, please?
  4. They ___ us a funny story last night.
  5. My mum ___ « Good night! » and switched off the light.
  6. Don’t ___ lies!
  7. Tom ___ to his friend that the match was cancelled.
  8. The teacher ___ the students to sit down.
Exercice 2 : changer les pronoms

Rapporte les paroles avec le verbe au présent (says / say). Le temps ne change pas, mais les pronoms et les possessifs, oui.

  1. Emma: « I love my dog. » → Emma says…
  2. Tom: « My brother is annoying. » → Tom says…
  3. The twins: « We are hungry. » → The twins say…
  4. Lucy: « I can’t find my keys. » → Lucy says…
  5. Mr and Mrs Brown: « Our garden is too small. » → Mr and Mrs Brown say…
  6. Jack (to me): « I’ll call you. » → Jack says…
Exercice 3 : faire reculer les temps

Rapporte chaque phrase avec said. Attention aux temps et aux pronoms.

  1. « I am tired, » said Mia.
  2. « We live in Leeds, » they said.
  3. « I’m watching TV, » said Ben.
  4. « I will help you, » Grandma said to me.
  5. « I can swim, » said Leo.
  6. « We don’t like spinach, » said the kids.
  7. « I lost my phone, » said Amy.
Exercice 4 : les repères de temps et de lieu

Associe chaque mot du discours direct à son équivalent au discours indirect.

Exercice 5 : rapporter une question fermée

Rapporte chaque question avec if.

  1. « Are you ready? » Tom asked me.
  2. « Do you like jazz? » she asked him.
  3. « Can you drive? » the man asked Sarah.
  4. « Is it raining? » Dad asked us.
  5. « Will you come to my party? » Lily asked Sam.
  6. « Did you finish your homework? » the teacher asked me.
Exercice 6 : rapporter une question ouverte

Rapporte chaque question en gardant le mot interrogatif. N’oublie pas l’ordre sujet + verbe.

  1. « Where do you live? » she asked me.
  2. « What time is it? » he asked.
  3. « Why are you crying? » Mum asked Lucy.
  4. « How old is your sister? » Tom asked me.
  5. « Who can help me? » Mrs Hill asked.
  6. « When will the train leave? » a tourist asked.
Exercice 7 : rapporter un ordre ou une demande

Rapporte avec told ou asked + personne + (not) to.

  1. « Close the door, » Mum told me.
  2. « Don’t run in the corridor, » the teacher told us.
  3. « Sit down, » Mr Lee told the students.
  4. « Don’t touch the dog, » the farmer told the children.
  5. « Please help me, » Grandpa asked Tom.
  6. « Don’t be late, » Dad told my sister.
Exercice 8 : corriger les erreurs

Chaque phrase contient une erreur. Réécris-la correctement.

  1. She said me that she was ill.
  2. He asked me where did I live.
  3. They told that they were happy.
  4. Mum told me don’t go out.
  5. Paul asked if I am French.
  6. She said she will come.
Exercice 9 : rapporter un dialogue

Lis le dialogue entre Ella et Josh, puis rapporte chaque réplique avec le verbe indiqué. La scène se passe un lundi ; tu la racontes le samedi suivant.

Ella: Are you coming to the football match tonight?

Josh: I can’t. I have a maths test tomorrow.

Ella: Why don’t you revise this afternoon?

Josh: I’m working at my uncle’s shop this afternoon.

Ella: Don’t worry. I will send you the score.

  1. (ask) Ella asked Josh…

Exercice 10 : traduire en anglais

Traduis en anglais.

  1. Elle m’a dit qu’elle était fatiguée.
  2. Il a dit qu’il aimait le rugby.
  3. Je lui ai demandé s’il avait faim.
  4. Ils nous ont demandé où nous habitions.
  5. Le professeur nous a dit de nous taire.
  6. Maman m’a dit de ne pas oublier mon manteau.
Exercice 11 : traduire en français

Traduis en français.

  1. He said that he would phone later.
  2. She asked me if I could help her.
  3. They told us not to make any noise.
  4. I asked Tom why he was sad.
  5. My friend said he had seen the film.
Exercice 12 : transmettre un message vocal

Ta correspondante Kate t’a laissé ce message hier. Rapporte-le aujourd’hui à ton frère, phrase par phrase, en commençant par Kate said…, She asked me… ou She told me….

« Hi! I’m in Paris with my parents. We’re staying at a hotel near the Eiffel Tower. Can you meet me tomorrow? Call me tonight. Don’t forget! »

  1. « I’m in Paris with my parents. »
