That est accepté partout à la place de who ou which.

Correction de l’exercice 4 : Peut-on supprimer le pronom ?
  1. The book I’m reading is exciting. (suivi du sujet I)
  2. Impossible : who est sujet de called.

  4. The boy who won the match is my brother. (pronom sujet obligatoire)
  5. The girls who play tennis are Irish. (accord avec girls)
  6. This is the film which / that I told you about. (ou sans pronom)

  1. Scissors are a tool which cuts paper.
  2. The boy who plays the guitar is Sam.
  3. The jacket that I bought is too big.
  4. An author is a person who writes books.

  1. He was the Scottish engineer who showed the first working television in 1926.
  2. They are small lights which show the middle of the road at night.
  3. He was the English inventor who invented cat’s eyes.

  5. It was a bicycle which had a very big front wheel and a tiny back wheel.

Correction de l’exercice 10 : Traduis en français
  1. Le garçon qui est assis derrière moi est très drôle.
  2. Une boussole est un objet qui indique le nord.
  3. Le cadeau que tu m’as offert est parfait.
  4. Les gens qui aiment les animaux ont souvent des animaux de compagnie.
  5. Le magasin qui vend des BD est fermé.
  6. C’est la photo que j’ai prise à Édimbourg. (le pronom supprimé correspond à « que »)

Exemple de réponse :

  6. I’m the inventor who will make students happy!

Comment progresser après ce corrigé

Si tu as mélangé who et which, refais les exercices 1 et 6 en soulignant d’abord l’antécédent. Pour la suppression du pronom, retiens le réflexe : pronom suivi d’un sujet = on peut l’enlever. Enfin, joue aux devinettes avec un camarade : chacun définit un objet de la classe avec une relative et l’autre doit le trouver.
