The Lost Lantern

Mia lived in a small village near the sea. One stormy night, her grandfather, who was the lighthouse keeper, fell ill and could not climb the tower. Mia took his old lantern and ran along the rocky path. The wind was strong and the waves were very loud, but she did not stop. At the top of the tower, she lit the lantern. A few minutes later, a fishing boat appeared in the dark and followed the light to the harbour. The next morning, the villagers thanked Mia and gave her a golden compass. She smiled and said, « I only did what my grandfather taught me. »
