Exercice 1 : Conjugaison (4 points)Compléter chaque phrase avec le verbe entre parenthèses, au temps qui convient.
- When the storm began, we (walk) along the cliff.
- By the time the police arrived, the thief (disappear) already.
- She (not / know) the answer, so she stayed silent.
- While Tom (cook) dinner, the lights went out.
- They (live) in Leeds for ten years before they moved to Bristol.
- I (never / see) such a huge dog until that day.
- The children (play) in the garden when it started to rain.
- He (be) tired because he (work) all night.
Choisir la forme correcte parmi les deux propositions.
- She (was reading / read) when somebody knocked at the door.
- After he (had finished / finished) his homework, he went out.
- At nine o’clock last night, I (watched / was watching) a film.
- We (had been waiting / waited) for an hour when the bus finally came.
- When I got to the station, the train (left / had left).
- He opened the box and (found / had found) a strange key.

Last winter, Clara was walking home from school when she noticed a small light in the old garden behind the church. She had passed that garden a thousand times, but she had never seen anything there before. She climbed over the wall and found a little lantern lying in the snow. Someone had left it there, but nobody was around. Clara picked it up, and suddenly the wind stopped.

- Quelle action de Clara est antérieure à son arrivée dans le jardin ? Relever une forme verbale du texte pour justifier la réponse.
- Relever deux verbes au prétérit qui font avancer l’action.
Corriger l’erreur de temps dans chaque phrase.
- When I arrived, the film already started.
- She was cry when I came into the room.
- He told me that he has lost his wallet the day before.
Traduire en anglais.
- Pendant que nous dînions, quelqu’un a sonné à la porte.
- Il avait déjà quitté la maison quand je suis arrivé.
- Elle pleurait parce qu’elle avait perdu son chat.
Rédiger en 60 à 80 mots le début d’un récit au passé qui commence par la phrase suivante : It was a foggy evening when the stranger arrived. Employer au moins un past perfect et un past continuous.
