Correction de l’exercice 1 : say ou tell ?
  1. Max says that he is hungry.
  2. The teacher tells us… (personne après le verbe)
  3. My grandma tells me…
  4. The newspaper says that…
  5. Lily tells her brother…
  6. The sign says that…

Tell est suivi de la personne à qui l’on parle ; say ne l’est pas.

Correction de l’exercice 2 : le bon pronom
  1. she
  2. his

Correction de l’exercice 3 : rapporte les affirmations
  1. Anna says that she plays the guitar.
  2. Leo says that he doesn’t like spiders.
  3. Mum tells me that my room is messy.
  4. They say that they live in Brooklyn.
  5. The guide tells us that the museum opens at ten.
  6. Chloe says that her cat sleeps all day.

Remarque le -s de la 3e personne (she plays) et don’t qui devient doesn’t.

Correction de l’exercice 4 : questions fermées avec if
  1. Sam asks if I am ready.
  2. Mia asks if I like hip-hop.
  3. Dad asks if the door is locked.
  4. The waiter asks if I want some water (ou if we want).
  5. Noah asks if he can borrow my pen.
Correction de l’exercice 5 : questions ouvertes
  1. Jess asks where I live.
  2. My little brother wonders why the sky is blue.
  3. The tourist asks what time the train leaves.
  4. Grace wonders who that man is.
  5. The doctor asks how old I am.
  6. Ethan asks when school starts.

Plus de do / does : le verbe reprend sa forme affirmative (leaves, starts).

Correction de l’exercice 7 : corrige les erreurs
  1. He tells me that he is tired.

  6. My aunt says that she loves jazz.
Correction de l’exercice 8 : exprime un souhait
  1. I would love to visit the Empire State Building one day!
  2. I wish to speak to the director, please. (formule formelle ; would like to est aussi correct)
  3. My best friend would love to become (ou would like to become) a vet.
  4. We would like to go (ou would love to go) to the beach.
  5. Would you like to come to my party?
Correction de l’exercice 9 : rapporte le dialogue
  1. Zoe says that she is new in New York.
  2. Ryan asks where she comes from.
  3. Zoe says that she comes from a small town in Ohio.
  4. Ryan asks if she likes the city.
  5. Zoe says that it’s really noisy, but she loves the parks.
  6. Ryan says that he would love to show her Central Park.

Correction de l’exercice 11 : à toi d’écrire

Exemple de réponse :

My penfriend Harry says that he loves his new school. He tells me that his teachers are nice. He asks if I like my school. He also asks what my favourite subject is. I would love to visit his school in England one day!

Comment progresser après ce corrigé

Entraîne-toi au quotidien : quand un camarade te dit une phrase en anglais, répète-la à un autre en commençant par He says that… ou She asks if…. Si l’ordre des mots dans les questions te pose problème, écris cinq questions directes puis transforme-les en barrant à chaque fois do ou does. Ce petit geste suffit souvent à fixer la règle.
