Exercice 1 : Quel monument ?

Associe chaque description au bon monument : Big Ben – Tower Bridge – the Tower of London – Buckingham Palace – Westminster Abbey – the London Eye – St Paul’s Cathedral – the National Portrait Gallery.

  1. It is a big wheel near the Thames.
  2. It is the King’s official home in London.
  3. It is a bell in a clock tower.
  4. It is a bridge that opens for tall ships.
  5. Kings and queens are crowned there.
  6. You can see the Crown Jewels and the ravens there.
  7. It is a cathedral with a huge dome.
  8. It is a museum full of portraits of famous British people.
Exercice 2 : True or false?

Vrai ou faux ? Corrige les phrases fausses.

  1. The Thames is a river.
  2. Big Ben is the name of the tower.
  3. Tower Bridge and London Bridge are the same bridge.
  4. The National Portrait Gallery is near Trafalgar Square.
  5. The National Trust was created in 1895.
  6. The London Underground is very new.
  7. You can visit the British Museum for free.
  8. The Tower of London is a modern building.
Exercice 3 : La Tour de Londres

Complète avec : fortress – jewels – ravens – guards – river – legend.

Exercice 6 : Pose la question

Trouve la question qui correspond au mot en gras. Utilise What, Where, When ou How many.

Exercice 7 : Traduis en anglais
  1. Londres est traversée par la Tamise.

Exercice 9 : Une journée à Londres

Lis le dialogue, puis réponds.

Zoe: So, what do you want to see tomorrow?

Tom: I’d like to go up the London Eye. The view must be amazing!

Zoe: Good idea. And I want to visit the National Portrait Gallery. It’s free, and there’s a portrait of Shakespeare.

Tom: OK. How can we get there?

Zoe: We can take the Tube to Charing Cross. It’s next to Trafalgar Square.

Tom: Great. And in the afternoon, let’s see Tower Bridge. Maybe it will open for a ship!

Exercice 10 : Le National Trust

Lis le texte, puis réponds en français ou en anglais.

The National Trust is a British charity. It was founded in 1895 by three friends who wanted to protect beautiful places. Today it looks after more than 500 places: castles, stately homes, gardens, forests and beaches. Millions of people are members, and thousands of volunteers help every year. Thanks to the National Trust, everybody can enjoy the country’s heritage.

  1. What is the National Trust?
  2. When was it founded?
  3. Cite trois types de lieux qu’il protège.
  4. Who helps the National Trust every year?
  5. Traduis « heritage » en français.
Exercice 11 : Corrige les erreurs

Chaque phrase contient une erreur (de fait ou de langue). Réécris-la correctement.

  1. Big Ben is a tower in Paris.
  2. There are a big wheel near the river.
  3. Tower Bridge is called London Bridge.
  4. The Thames is a mountain.
  5. I would like to visit the tower of london.
  6. The National Portrait Gallery is full of dinosaurs.
Exercice 12 : Ma carte postale de Londres

Écris une carte postale de 6 phrases à un ami. Elle doit contenir :

  1. une formule d’ouverture (Dear… / Hi…) ;
  2. une phrase avec There is ou There are ;
  3. deux monuments et un détail sur chacun ;
  4. un musée ou un lieu du National Trust ;
  5. un moyen de transport ;
  6. une formule de fin (See you soon!).
