Ces exercices ville et lieux t’entraînent à nommer les bâtiments, à situer un lieu avec les bonnes prépositions et à comprendre ou donner un itinéraire à pied. Garde le plan sous les yeux : plusieurs exercices s’appuient dessus.

Les exercices ville et lieux

Exercice 1 : Les bâtiments de la ville

Associe chaque mot anglais à sa traduction : a) la mairie, b) une bibliothèque, c) une librairie, d) un pont, e) une place, f) un commissariat, g) une caserne de pompiers, h) un centre commercial.

Exercice 2 : Où vont-ils ?

Complète avec le lieu qui convient.

  1. I want to borrow some books. I go to the ___.
  2. She wants to send a parcel. She goes to the ___.
  3. We want to see old paintings and dinosaurs. We go to the ___.
  4. He wants to buy bread. He goes to the ___.
  5. They want to watch a film. They go to the ___.
  6. My leg is broken! Take me to the ___.
  7. I want to see a football match. I go to the ___.
Exercice 3 : City, suburbs ou countryside ?

Choisis le bon mot.

  1. New York is a very big (city / village).
  2. The shops and the offices are (downtown / countryside).
  3. We live in a quiet house with a garden in the (suburbs / city centre).
  4. There are cows, fields and farms in the (countryside / downtown).
  5. My grandmother lives in a small stone (cottage / mall) in the country.
  6. The streets are full of cars: it’s very (peaceful / noisy).
Exercice 4 : L’impératif pour indiquer le chemin

Traduis chaque indication en anglais.

  1. Tournez à droite.
  2. Allez tout droit.
  3. Prenez la deuxième rue à gauche.
  4. Traversez le pont.
  5. Passez devant la poste.
  6. C’est sur votre gauche.
Exercice 5 : Remettre les mots dans l’ordre

Remets les mots dans l’ordre.

  1. me / excuse / the museum / where / is / ?
  2. can / how / get / I / the station / to / ?
  3. a bank / here / is / near / there / ?
  4. first / take / the / street / right / on / the
  5. can’t / it / you / miss
  6. opposite / the church / is / the museum
Exercice 6 : Corriger les erreurs

Chaque phrase contient une erreur. Corrige-la.

  1. I buy my books at the library.
  2. Go all right, then turn left.
  3. The bank is between the cinema or the school.
  4. You turn left! (pour donner une indication polie)
  5. Paris is a big town.
  6. The bakery is next the bank.
Exercice 7 : Situer sur le plan

Observe le plan de Littleton (ville imaginaire), puis complète avec next to, opposite, between, behind ou at the corner of.

  1. The bakery is ___ the bank.

  6. The supermarket is ___ the library and the cinema.
Exercice 8 : Suivre un itinéraire

Tu es au point X du plan de l’exercice 7. Suis les indications et dis où tu arrives.

  1. Go straight on along Queen Street. Go past North Road. It’s the first building on your left.
  2. Go straight on along Queen Street and cross Mill Lane. It’s on your right.
  3. Go straight on along Queen Street. Turn right into North Road. It’s on your right.
  4. Go straight on along Queen Street. It’s the second building on your right.
  5. Go straight on along Queen Street and cross Mill Lane. It’s on your left.
Exercice 9 : Compréhension d’un dialogue

Hugo: Excuse me, is there a post office near here?

Woman: Yes, there’s one downtown, in Victoria Square.

Hugo: How can I get there?

Woman: Walk along the river and cross the old bridge. Then take the second street on the left. Go past the cathedral and you’ll see the square. The post office is opposite the town hall.

Hugo: Is it far?

Woman: It’s about ten minutes on foot. Or you can take the bus number 4.

Hugo: Thanks a lot! — Woman: You’re welcome!

Réponds en anglais ou par True / False avec justification.

  1. What is Hugo looking for?
  2. The post office is in the suburbs. True or false?
  3. What must Hugo cross?
  4. Which street must he take after the bridge?
  5. What building does he go past?
  6. Where exactly is the post office?
  7. How long does it take on foot?
Exercice 10 : Traduire en anglais

Traduis en anglais.

  1. J’habite dans la banlieue de Londres.
  2. Mes grands-parents habitent dans un cottage à la campagne.
  3. Excusez-moi, où est le musée, s’il vous plaît ?
  4. Le musée est en face de la mairie.
  5. Allez tout droit et prenez la première rue à droite.
  6. La boulangerie est entre la banque et la poste.
Exercice 11 : Traduire en français

Traduis en français.

  1. The city centre is very busy on Saturdays.
  2. There is a famous monument in the main square.
  3. Walk along the river until the bridge.
  4. The cinema is at the corner of the street.
  5. It’s a quiet neighbourhood with a lot of trees.
Exercice 12 : Production guidée

Un touriste anglais est devant ton collège et veut aller à la mairie (ou à un autre lieu de ta ville). Écris le dialogue en 6 à 8 répliques.

  1. Le touriste demande poliment le chemin.
  2. Tu donnes au moins trois indications à l’impératif.
  3. Tu situes le lieu avec une préposition (next to, opposite…).
  4. Le touriste demande si c’est loin ; tu donnes une durée.
  5. Vous vous dites merci et au revoir.
