Exercice 1 : La nature du document

Traduis le type de document en anglais, avec a ou an.

  1. une affiche
  2. un tableau
  3. un dessin humoristique
  4. une photographie
  5. une publicité
  6. une couverture de livre
Exercice 2 : Où est-ce ?

Observe le schéma, puis complète chaque phrase avec l’expression de lieu qui convient.

  1. The sun is ___.
  2. A bird is flying ___.
  3. The tree is ___ of the picture.
  4. The house is ___, far away.
  5. The dog is sleeping ___.

Exercice 3 : There is ou there are ?

Complète avec there is ou there are.

  1. In the foreground, ___ two children on a beach.
  2. ___ a lighthouse on the right.
  3. In the background, ___ some fishing boats.
  4. ___ a lot of people in the street.
  5. On the table, ___ an old map and a candle.
  6. ___ no clouds in the sky.
Exercice 4 : Ce qui se passe

Mets le verbe entre parenthèses au présent en be + -ing.

  1. A man ___ (walk) his dog along the river.
  2. Two girls ___ (take) a selfie.
  3. The waiter ___ (carry) a tray.
  4. It ___ (rain) heavily.
  5. The children ___ (not / listen) to the teacher.
  6. An old lady ___ (sit) on a bench.
  7. The sun ___ (set) behind the hills.
Exercice 5 : Look, look like ou seem to ?

Choisis la bonne forme.

  1. The boy (looks / looks like) tired.
  2. This building (looks / looks like) a spaceship.
  3. She (seems to / looks like) be angry.
  4. The clouds (look / look like) dark and heavy.
  5. He (looks / looks like) a famous singer.
  6. They (seem to / seem) be very busy.
Exercice 6 : Faire des hypothèses

Réécris chaque phrase avec might (doute) ou must (quasi-certitude), selon l’indice entre parenthèses.

  1. Perhaps they are brothers. (doute)
  2. I’m sure he is cold: he’s wearing a T-shirt in the snow. (certitude)
  3. Maybe the woman is a teacher. (doute)
  4. It’s certainly a holiday: everybody is on the beach. (certitude)
  5. Perhaps the picture was taken in Scotland. (doute)
Exercice 7 : Remets dans l’ordre

Remets les mots dans l’ordre pour former une phrase correcte.

  1. foreground / in / the / a / is / cat / sleeping / the / .
  2. can / background / we / mountains / see / in / the / .
  3. a / it / photo / colour / is / .
  4. corner / left-hand / top / the / in / there / a / is / clock / .

Exercice 8 : Corrige l’erreur

Chaque phrase contient une erreur. Recopie-la corrigée.

  1. On the picture, there is a red car.
  2. In the first plan, a girl is dancing.
  3. There is a lot of people in the square.
  4. The man looks like sad.
  5. At the left, we can see a church.
  6. Two boys play football right now in the picture.
  7. In the top of the picture, there is a plane.
Exercice 9 : Traduis en anglais
  1. Ce document est un tableau.
  2. À l’arrière-plan, on voit un château.
  3. Au premier plan, un garçon court.
  4. Elle a l’air heureuse.
  5. Ils sont peut-être perdus.
  6. Ça me rappelle mes vacances.
Exercice 10 : Lis la description

This document is a black and white photograph taken in New York in the 1930s. In the foreground, eleven workers are sitting on a metal beam, high above the city. They are eating their lunch and chatting. Some of them are smoking. In the background, we can see tall buildings and Central Park. The men don’t seem to be afraid at all: they must be used to working at this height. I find this photo impressive but a bit scary because there is nothing to protect them.

Réponds par True ou False et justifie avec une citation du texte.

  1. It’s a colour photograph.
  2. The photo was taken in New York.
  3. The workers are standing on the beam.
  4. The men are having lunch.
  5. We can see a park in the background.
  6. The workers look terrified.
  7. The writer finds the photo boring.
Exercice 11 : Ta description guidée

Imagine une photo prise sur un marché de Dublin un samedi matin. Écris 6 phrases, une par consigne.

  1. Présente le document (nature, lieu).
  2. Dis ce qu’il y a au premier plan.
  3. Dis ce qu’il y a à l’arrière-plan.
  4. Décris une action en cours.
  5. Fais une hypothèse avec might ou must.
  6. Donne ton avis en le justifiant avec because.
