  1. lyrics → music (les paroles)

  6. a tune → music (une mélodie)

Correction de l’exercice 2 : le bon mot
  1. performed : se produire sur scène.
  2. audience : le public d’un spectacle.
  3. movement : an art movement, un courant artistique.
  4. lyrics : les paroles d’une chanson.
  5. gag : la célèbre scène de la chaussure dans The Gold Rush (1925).
  6. mural : une fresque murale.
  7. stencil : un pochoir.
Correction de l’exercice 3 : décris l’œuvre

  2. In the top left corner, there is a yellow sun.
  3. She is releasing a white dove. (Elle libère une colombe blanche.)

Correction de l’exercice 4 : compréhension, Charlie Chaplin

  3. The Tramp is a poor man with a bowler hat, a cane and big shoes.
  4. He works in a factory and gets stuck in the machines.
  5. He criticises the way workers are treated.

  3. The artist wants to denounce war. (notion générale, sans article)
  4. What strikes me is the bright colours.
  5. In the foreground, there is a child.
  6. I find this song very moving.
Correction de l’exercice 9 : traduis en français
  1. Le street art est souvent une façon de protester.
  2. À l’arrière-plan, on voit une ville.
  3. Le public a éclaté de rire.
  4. Cet artiste est engagé dans la protection de la planète.
  5. Les paroles portent un message d’espoir.
  6. Le pop art s’inspirait de la bande dessinée et de la publicité.
Correction de l’exercice 10 : corrige les erreurs
  1. This painting makes me think of my grandmother. Pas de to après make + personne.
  2. The audience clapped at the end of the play. Le public d’un spectacle = audience.
  3. In the foreground, there is a dog.
  4. The artist wants to denounce racism. Notion générale, sans the.
  5. This song reminds me of my holidays. Remind + personne + of.
  6. This street artist paints at night. Le -s de la 3e personne du singulier.
Correction de l’exercice 11 : présente une œuvre engagée

Exemple de réponse modèle (à partir de la fresque de l’exercice 3) :

  1. This is a mural painted on a brick wall in a street.
  2. In the middle, a girl is releasing a white dove.
  3. In the top left corner, there is a big yellow sun, and the word “PEACE” is written on the right.
  4. The colours are bright and warm: orange, yellow and green.
  5. The artist wants to carry a message of peace and hope.
  6. I find it moving, and it makes me feel hopeful about the future.

Comment progresser après ce corrigé

Si la description t’a semblé difficile, entraîne-toi avec n’importe quelle affiche ou photo : situe trois éléments (in the foreground, in the middle, on the right), puis donne ton avis en une phrase. Révise aussi make + BV et remind me of : ce sont les deux structures les plus utiles pour réagir à une œuvre, à l’écrit comme à l’oral.
