Correction de l’exercice 2 : To ou V-ing ?
  1. to go : decide + to.
  2. answering : avoid + V-ing.
  3. to lose : afford + to.
  4. waiting : mind + V-ing.
  5. to negotiate
  6. asking : keep + V-ing.
  7. to collect : manage + to.
  8. stealing (ou having stolen) : deny + V-ing.
Correction de l’exercice 3 : Après une préposition
  1. in joining

  3. to hearing : to est ici une préposition.

Exemple de réponse :

  1. Listening to students is the first duty of this council.
  2. We want the headteacher to open the library at lunchtime.

  5. We will have the menu translated for exchange students.

Comment progresser après ce corrigé

Constituez deux listes personnelles, « + to » et « + V-ing », et ajoutez-y chaque verbe rencontré dans vos lectures. Relisez aussi les erreurs de l’exercice 10 : ce sont exactement celles que les correcteurs repèrent dans les copies de première.
