Exercice 1 : Les verbes irréguliersDonne le prétérit de chaque verbe.

Mets les verbes au prétérit simple.
- We ___ (arrive) at the campsite at six.

Choisis entre le prétérit simple et le prétérit en be + -ing.

- While Emma (read / was reading), the phone (rang / was ringing).
- The birds (sang / were singing) and the sun (shone / was shining).
- I (dropped / was dropping) my bag and (ran / was running) away.
- We (had / were having) dinner when the lights (went / were going) out.
- He (opened / was opening) the letter, (read / was reading) it and (smiled / was smiling).
Complète avec : Suddenly, Luckily, While, Then, In the end, One day, As soon as.
- ___, a strange letter arrived at our house.

Ces phrases forment un récit. Donne l’ordre des numéros pour reconstituer l’histoire.
- Luckily, a fisherman saw us and towed us back to the harbour.
- Last summer, Tom and I rented a small boat in Cornwall.
- In the end, we were tired but very proud of our adventure.
- At first, the sea was calm and we were having fun.
- Suddenly, the engine stopped and the wind started to blow.
- We were really scared because we were far from the coast.
Associe chaque situation à l’adjectif qui convient : relieved, terrified, thrilled, disappointed, amazed, nervous.

- The match was cancelled. We were ___.
- A huge spider was on my pillow. I was ___.
- I found my lost dog. I felt ___.
- The view from the top was incredible. We were ___.

Pose la question qui porte sur le mot souligné en gras, au prétérit.
- They went to Scotland. (Where…?)
- She saw a ghost. (What…?)
- We left at midnight. (When…?)
- Jack found the treasure. (Who…?)
- He was scared because the door was open. (Why…?)
Chaque phrase contient une erreur. Recopie-la corrigée.

It was a grey Saturday in Edinburgh. Lucy and her friend Ben were visiting the castle with their class. While the guide was talking about Mary, Queen of Scots, Lucy noticed a small wooden door. She opened it and the two friends went down some narrow stairs. It was dark and cold, and water was dripping from the walls. Suddenly, the door slammed behind them. Ben was terrified. Lucy tried to stay calm and used her phone as a torch. After ten long minutes, they found another door and came out in the castle shop. Their teacher was furious, but Lucy was secretly thrilled: it was the best school trip ever!

- Un élément déclencheur avec Suddenly.
- Ta réaction physique (cœur, mains…).
- Une action au prétérit simple avec Then.
- Une description du lieu (bruit, lumière, météo).
- Une action interrompue avec While.
- La résolution avec Luckily ou Fortunately.
- La fin avec In the end et une émotion.
