Exercice 1 : In, on ou at ?

Complète avec la bonne préposition.

  1. Thomas Edison was born ___ 1847.
  2. He was born ___ 11 February.
  3. He left school ___ the age of 12.
  4. He invented the phonograph ___ 1877.
  5. Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat ___ 1 December 1955.
  6. The Beatles became famous ___ the 1960s.

Exercice 2 : Lis les dates

Écris en toutes lettres la façon de lire ces dates.

Exercice 3 : Les verbes de la vie

Mets le verbe au prétérit.

  1. J.K. Rowling ___ (grow up) near the Forest of Dean.
  2. She ___ (study) French at university.
  3. In 1990, she ___ (have) the idea of Harry Potter on a train.
  4. She ___ (move) to Portugal and ___ (teach) English there.
  5. Her first book ___ (come) out in 1997.

Exercice 4 : Was ou were born ?

Complète avec was born ou were born, puis traduis la phrase 6.

  1. Charles Dickens ___ in Portsmouth.
  2. The Wright brothers ___ in the United States.
  3. I ___ in 2012.
  4. Where ___ your parents ___?
  5. Serena Williams ___ in Michigan.
  6. Ma sœur et moi sommes nées à Lyon.
Exercice 5 : Who ou which ?

Relie les deux phrases avec who ou which.

  1. Edison invented the light bulb. It lit up homes all over the world.
  2. Bell married Mabel Hubbard. She was one of his students.
  3. Roald Dahl wrote Matilda. It became a musical.
  4. Ada Lovelace worked with Babbage. He was an inventor.
  5. Marie Curie won two Nobel Prizes. They were in physics and chemistry.
  6. Rosa Parks was an activist. She fought against segregation.
Exercice 6 : La frise de Thomas Edison

Observe la frise et écris une phrase au prétérit pour chaque date.

Exercice 7 : Les marqueurs de temps

Complète avec : later, ago, for, until, at the age of, from.

Exercice 8 : Corrige l’erreur

Chaque phrase contient une erreur. Recopie-la corrigée.

Exercice 9 : Traduis en anglais
  1. Il est né à Édimbourg en 1847.

Exercice 10 : Lis la biographie

Roald Dahl was a British writer who is famous for his funny and sometimes dark children’s books. He was born in Llandaff, in Wales, on 13 September 1916. His parents were from Norway. When he was three, his father died. He went to boarding schools in England, which he hated. After leaving school, he worked for an oil company in Africa. During the Second World War, he became a fighter pilot and he was badly injured in a crash in 1940. Later, he started writing stories. In 1964, he published Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which became a huge success. He died in Oxford in 1990, but his books are still read by millions of children today.

Réponds aux questions en anglais.
