Did et didn’t au prétérit demandent un peu d’entraînement : il faut penser à remettre le verbe à sa base. Ces onze exercices te font passer de la négation aux questions, puis à un véritable interrogatoire à mener toi-même.

S’entraîner avec did et didn’t au prétérit

Exercice 1 : Retrouver la base verbale

Après did, le verbe revient à sa base. Donne la base verbale de chaque prétérit.

  2. saw

  4. bought
  5. ate
  6. studied
  7. took
  8. made
Exercice 2 : Mettre à la forme négative

Récris chaque phrase à la forme négative avec didn’t.

  1. I watched TV last night.
  2. She went to school yesterday.
  3. We played tennis.
  4. They ate pizza.
  5. He bought a new phone.
  6. My dog slept in the garden.
  7. You studied hard.
  8. The film started at eight.
Exercice 3 : Poser la question

Transforme chaque phrase en question fermée avec Did.

  1. You visited the castle.
  2. She found her keys.
  3. They won the match.
  4. Tom phoned his grandma.
  5. Your parents liked the film.
  6. It snowed last winter.
Exercice 4 : Les réponses courtes

Réponds par une réponse courte en suivant l’indication entre parenthèses.

  1. Did you see the new superhero film? (yes)
  2. Did Emma come to the party? (no)
  3. Did they enjoy the trip? (yes)
  4. Did your dad cook dinner? (no)
  5. Did it rain yesterday? (yes)
  6. Did you and Sam finish your homework? (no)
Exercice 5 : Questionner sur le mot en gras

Pose la question qui porte sur le groupe de mots en gras. Utilise where, when, what, what time, who, why ou how.

  1. She went to Brighton.
  2. They arrived at six o’clock.
  3. He bought a skateboard.
  4. We met Lucy at the station.
  5. I left because I was tired.
  6. She travelled by train.
Exercice 6 : Did, didn’t, was ou were ?

Complète avec did, didn’t, was ou were.

  1. ___ you like the concert?
  2. I ___ go out yesterday: I was ill.
  3. ___ she at school yesterday?
  4. We ___ understand the question, so we asked the teacher.
  5. ___ they happy with their marks?
  6. Where ___ you buy that jacket?
  7. He ___ tired, so he went to bed early.
  8. ___ your brother win the race?
Exercice 7 : Chasse aux erreurs

Chaque phrase contient une erreur. Corrige-la.

  1. I didn’t went to the party.
  2. Did you saw the dog?
  3. She don’t play football yesterday.
  4. Where you went last weekend?
  5. Did they were at home?
  6. He didn’t liked the soup.
Exercice 8 : L’affaire du vase cassé

Lis l’interrogatoire, puis réponds aux questions 1 à 5 par une réponse courte en anglais. Réponds à la question 6 en français.

Officer: Good morning, Jake. Did you go to the living room this morning?

Jake: Yes, I did. I went there at nine to get my book.

Officer: Did you see the vase?

Jake: Yes, it was on the table.

Officer: Did you touch it?

Jake: No, I didn’t! I didn’t touch anything.

Officer: Where did you go after that?

Jake: I went to the garden. I played football with my sister.

Officer: Hmm… Did you kick the ball into the house?

Jake: Er… yes, I did. Sorry!

  1. Did Jake go to the living room this morning?
  2. Did he go there at ten?
  3. Did he touch the vase with his hands?
  4. Did he play football with his brother?
  5. Did he kick the ball into the house?
  6. À ton avis, qu’est-ce qui a cassé le vase ? Justifie.
Exercice 9 : Traduire en anglais

Traduis ces phrases en anglais.

  1. Je n’ai pas fini mes devoirs.
  2. Est-ce que tu as aimé le livre ?
  3. Où est-ce qu’ils sont allés samedi ?
  4. Elle n’a pas pris le bus.
  5. Qu’est-ce que vous avez mangé ?
  6. Il n’était pas content.
Exercice 10 : Remettre dans l’ordre

Remets les mots dans l’ordre pour former une phrase correcte.

  1. did / where / go / you / yesterday
  2. didn’t / the film / like / I
  3. your / did / call / you / grandma
  4. what / buy / she / did
  5. time / get up / what / did / you
Exercice 11 : Interview sur le week-end

Tu interroges un camarade sur son dernier week-end. Écris les six questions à partir des indications, puis imagine ses réponses (une phrase complète au prétérit, affirmative ou négative).

  1. where / go
  2. what / eat on Sunday
  3. who / meet
  4. what time / get up on Saturday
  5. watch TV? (question fermée)
  6. do sport? (question fermée)
