Voici le corrigé phrases conditionnelles des douze exercices. Pour chaque erreur, vérifie d’abord si tu avais bien identifié le type de condition : c’est presque toujours là que tout se joue.

Correction de l’exercice 1 : Réel ou imaginaire ?
  1. R : if + présent, will.
  2. I : je ne suis pas un oiseau (were, would).
  3. R : rater le bus est tout à fait possible.
  4. I : gagner au loto est très improbable (won, would).
  5. R : ‘ll = will.
  6. I : les dinosaures ont disparu, la situation est fausse.
  7. R : ‘s = is, ‘ll = will.
Correction de l’exercice 2 : If + présent, will
  1. If you lend me your bike, I will give it back tomorrow.
  2. If it snows this weekend, we will go skiing. (n’oublie pas le -s de la 3e personne)
  3. She will be angry if you forget her birthday.
  4. If they don’t leave now, they will miss the train.
  5. If I finish my homework early, I will watch the match.
  6. You won’t feel better if you don’t sleep more.
  7. If he calls me, I will tell him the news.
  8. What will you do if the shop is closed?
Correction de l’exercice 3 : If + prétérit, would
  1. If I had more money, I would travel around the world.
  2. If she lived in London, she would speak English every day.
  3. If we didn’t have so much homework, we would go out more often.
  4. If I were you, I would apologise. (were à toutes les personnes)
  5. He would be happier if he played in the school team.
  6. If my phone worked, I would send you a message.
  7. What would you do if you met a famous singer?
  8. If people used bikes more, the air would be cleaner.
Correction de l’exercice 4 : Will ou would ?
  1. will : find est au présent, la condition est réaliste.
  2. would : were indique une hypothèse imaginaire.
  3. will : ask est au présent.
  4. would : could talk, les chats ne parlent pas.
  5. will : is, le beau temps dimanche est possible.
  6. would : knew, je ne connais pas la réponse.
  7. will : press, conséquence réelle et certaine.
Correction de l’exercice 5 : Réécrire avec unless
  1. Unless you apologise, she won’t speak to you again.
  2. You will fail unless you revise.
  3. Unless it rains, we’ll play outside.
  4. I won’t come unless you invite me.
  5. Unless he trains, he won’t win the race.
  6. The dog will bark unless you give it some food.

Dans chaque cas, la négation disparaît du verbe : unless la contient déjà.

Correction de l’exercice 6 : If, unless ou as long as ?
  1. as long as : à condition que tu en prennes soin.
  2. unless : sauf s’il pleut.
  3. If : simple condition.
  4. as long as : du moment que tu ne fais pas de bruit.
  5. If : hypothèse imaginaire avec were.
  6. unless : sauf si tu le rends à temps.
  7. as long as : à condition que je sois rentré à minuit.
Correction de l’exercice 7 : Corrige les erreurs
  1. If it rains, we will stay inside. (pas de will après if)
  2. If I had a dog, I would walk it every day. (pas de would après if)
  3. If I were you, I would wear a coat. (were attendu à l’écrit)
  4. Unless you hurry, you’ll miss the bus. (unless + verbe affirmatif)
  5. If she studies, she will pass. On accepte aussi If she studied, she would pass.
  6. We would go to the cinema if we had time. On accepte aussi We will go to the cinema if we have time.
Correction de l’exercice 8 : Remets les mots dans l’ordre
  1. If it rains, we will stay at home.
  2. If I had a dog, I would call it Max.
  3. You’ll be late unless you leave now. (ou Unless you leave now, you’ll be late.)
  4. You can go out as long as you are back by ten.
  5. What would you do if you were invisible?
  6. If you heat ice, it melts. (vérité générale : présent + présent)
Correction de l’exercice 9 : Traduis en anglais
  1. If it’s sunny on Saturday, we’ll go to the beach. (ou If the weather is nice…)
  2. If I were you, I wouldn’t say anything.
  3. You can come as long as you are on time. (ou provided that you are on time)
  4. I won’t come unless you help me.
  5. If we had a car, we could visit Scotland.
  6. What would you do if you lost your phone?
Correction de l’exercice 10 : Traduis en français
  1. Si tu as besoin d’aide, appelle-moi.
  2. Si j’habitais au bord de la mer, j’irais surfer tous les week-ends.
  3. À moins de partir maintenant, nous allons rater le début du film. (ou Si nous ne partons pas maintenant, nous raterons…)
  4. Tu peux prendre mon vélo à condition de le rapporter ce soir.
  5. S’il était plus patient, il serait un excellent professeur.
Correction de l’exercice 11 : Un voyage scolaire
  1. They will go to Edinburgh in May.
  2. They will visit York, because it’s closer and cheaper.
  3. The pupils must behave on the coach : as long as you behave on the coach.
  4. If the weather is terrible. (unless the weather is terrible = if the weather isn’t terrible)
  5. No, it isn’t realistic : Lily is not the head teacher. The preterite (were) and would show an imaginary situation.
  6. Réel : If we get enough money from the cake sale, we will go to Edinburgh in May. Imaginaire : If I were the head teacher, I would organise a trip every month.
Correction de l’exercice 12 : À toi d’écrire

Exemple de réponse modèle :

  1. If it’s sunny on Saturday, I will go cycling with my cousin. If I finish my homework on Friday, I’ll have a free weekend.
  2. If I were a famous footballer, I would give money to my old club. If I had a time machine, I would visit ancient Egypt.
  3. I won’t go to the party unless my best friend comes too.
  4. My parents let me play video games as long as I do my homework first.

Comment progresser après ce corrigé

Si tu as confondu will et would, reprends le tableau « une même situation, deux regards » du cours et invente tes propres paires de phrases : une version réaliste, une version imaginaire. Pour unless, entraîne-toi à reformuler chaque phrase en if… not à voix haute. Enfin, relis tes productions écrites en traquant un seul défaut : un will ou un would caché juste après if.
